I cannot stand crime shows...I could not agree more. I cannot stand crime shows or medical emergency dramas because they perpetuate unrealistic expectations in the public. There was a study done that showed older community-dwelling adults believed that CPR was successful 75% of the time- about what is seen on TV. If people knew that the real success rate is around 15% or less, they might be much less likely to expect miracles, especially in people with multiple co-morbidities.
