They go to training

Cool training attended by some of my investigative staff recently. Other staff members will go in the future. One part of the death investigation course involved finding and recovering (with trace evidence) the bodies of pigs buried for some time as if they were homicide victims.

Out of curiosity, what sort of qualifications does one need to be a member of an investigative staff such as yours? Are they law enforcement? Coroners-in-training?

My deputies/investigators are required to have a Bachelor's Degree in a health care or criminal justice area, prior to hire. Prior related experience is a plus.

As Coroner's Investigators they have certain police "powers" and as part of the team (our office and various law enforcement and related agencies) investigate deaths in our county.
